Simon Patterson Review

Simon Patterson Review

As enthusiastic clubbers filtered into the club, they became completely enveloped in the 360 visual and audio stimulation of Avalon’s new set up

Gigantic screens not only provided psychedelic backlighting for the stage, but they also lined the entire walls of the establishment – ensuring that the crowd would be completely nestled in the arms of a mind blowing visual experience yet to come. Speakers dangled from the ceilings, precisely placed to ensure that no corner would go untouched by the beats and the bass. As Kristina Sky stepped down from warming up the crowd with her set, Simon Patterson came into the lights of the stage as the crowd writhed with anticipation – the time had come. Simon Patterson was to present his very first, world exclusive 8 hour set – and what better setting to do so in, than the world renowned club Avalon in Hollywood, CA. A packed house, front to back, it was clear that tonight no one was afraid of 138 – and Simon was ready to deliver what everyone was waiting for.

Starting off with groovy and undulating beats, Simon took his time in slowly building up the crowd to the madness that was to come. The lasers danced to the sounds, while various patterns and shapes played over the walls and backdrop of the stage. The crowd was slowly being drawn into an experience that they would most definitely never forget. Simon progressively started to pump the crowd up, breaching the boundaries of their expectations – and with 8 hours to spare, it was clear that he was going to use every outlet he could to explore multiple sub-genres, pushing the crowd to limits they never even knew they had. In a sea of newly connected psytrancers, everyone danced as they fed off of the unique energy of the music that they just aren’t able to find in any other club. It was clear that Simon was helping each person dance their own individual troubles away.

The crowd chanted for more – and with fists pumping, and feet jumping, Simon took the sound deeper, darker, and harder as the night went on. The driving force of Simon’s sound not only translated to his crowd, but it also resonated the very essence of what his music means. When everyone should have been leaving to go home for the night, Simon kept the crowd engaged – the house was just as packed as when it started (maybe even more so). Everyone was curious as to where he would go next. As the night drew on, Simon flowed into the more melodic trance that the world has grown to know and love – the kind of trance that you just don’t get to hear as often anymore. Vibes were high, and there wasn’t a body in sight that wasn’t having the time of their life. Avalon illuminated with spectacular shades of blue and red, and with their hands in the air, the crowd ate up every beat, every emotion, dancing till the sun came up – Literally.
