SURPRISE!

There’s more than just one DJ as “GTA 5 ONLINE – THE NIGHTLIFE DLC” has arrived!

After teasing out through a social media post with just 4 electronic dance music artist names listed a few weeks back, a secret update for GTA 5 was launched. Rockstar has managed to keep gamer’s interest high by debuting new missions, new cars, vehicles and other surprises – but nothing like this before.

The music used for the trailer gives a huge nod to the present evolution that the dance music industry is experiencing. As you dive into the nightclub, its obvious that house music – not techno – is the primary genre (think of genres as colors) featured in the latest inclusion of Electronic Dance Music into pop culture.

If you were lucky enough to “Get On The Guest List” you’ll be given access to the new update along with GTA$300,000 and an exclusive Orange Wireframe Bodysuit, with additional bonuses that Rockstar outlined on its blog as you prepare to become a nightclub mogul.

The $50 introduction entrance fee allows you to dive into the night club environment complete with party posters of the top act performing at that club. If watching & dancing to you favorite house music DJ’s online isn’t enough, players will be able to own and operate their own nightclub in GTA Online too. At the time of announcement Rockstar hadn’t explained the particulars of how players will run their club, but it will involve designing, staffing, and promoting it.

With Rockstar announcing that the nightclubs will feature new music from electronic artists Solomun, Tale Of Us, Dixon, and The Black Madonna, it’s safe to say that the time of ‘commercial underground’ has arrived. Though many frown upon the term when I have brought it up over the past few years, I don’t mean it in a negative manner but rather one in which we embrace the idea that the whole world of all ages, races and generations could embrace electronic dance music the way that us ‘purists’ have ‘since the beginning’.

As realistic as video games have gotten it is no surprise that GTA5 is going all in on this extravagant and risky move while at the same time demonstrating that we are slowly becoming desensitized (or more accepting) of all the elements that encompass the dance music industry. “Nightclubs are the perfect cover for any other operation you might have going, so get in on the ground level as a business partner to open up a brand new establishment, and help the DJs make their shows the best ever,” Rockstar says. “Run your nightclub business from setup, design, staffing and promotion; the more popular the club, the faster your secure wall safe will fill up.”

Who would you book for your own Grand Theft Auto 5 nightclub?! Shoot us some screen shots of your night club and add us on the guest list!
