Australian Police seize $500,000 worth of drugs en route to Future Music Festival

POLICE have seized 7500 ecstasy pills they believe were ready to be sold at this weekend’s Future Music Festival.

The anti-bikie squad Taskforce Maxima today charged 17 people with in excess of 110 offences after executing 10 search warrants on addresses across south-east Queensland.

The charges are the result of a six month investigation called Operation Mike Order targeting a network of drug suppliers with links to the Bandidos members involved in the supply and production of illicit substances, specifically cocaine, ‘ice’ methylamphetamines, ecstacy, cannabis and steroids.

So far today, police have executed search warrants at residential premises in Wynnum, Bulimba, Hawthorne, Coopers Plains, Eagleby, Teneriffe, Bowen Hills, Carina, Oxley and Russell Island.

Acting Detective Inspector Mark Andrews says the tablets have a street value of around $500,000.

“Today we have prevented over 7,500 MDMA tablets being consumed at music festivals such as the Future Festival tomorrow, helping to make all Queenslanders safer, in particular our teenagers and young adults” said Acting Detective Inspector Mark Andrews.

• A 26-year old man from Carina, a former member of the Bandidos CMG has been charged with supplying a dangerous drug.

• A 27-year old man from Wynnum, and associate of the Bandidos CMG, has been charged with trafficking, supplying, producing and possessing dangerous drugs and of being a vicious lawless associate under VLAD legislation.

• A 29-year old man from Bulimba has been charged with trafficking, supplying and possessing dangerous drugs and of being a vicious lawless associate under VLAD legislation.
