In a recent interview with MTV, Steve confirms that he just got back to “letting loose on creativity,” and that “it’s really important for dance music today to become creative again.” Describing an artist album that would offer a new Steve Angello with a taste of the old, Wild Youth came “straight from the heart.”

I wanted to get back to just letting loose and just having fun, not think within the box. Just kind of lose it when it came to It’s really important for dance music today to become creative again and really think, not just repeat yourself like a lot of producers do. Creatively it’s given me a lot of fuel — I feel like a kid again. I’m doing something that came straight from the heart.

Lack of originality has been a hot topic in the EDM world lately. In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Diplo went as far as calling dance music and DJs “interchangeable.”

After hearing Angello describe what went into his upcoming album, it sounds like keeping his work fresh and inspired will not be an issue. In fact, his new project is so fresh that he says it makes him “feel like a kid again.” With “cool collaborations” and plenty of live instruments, Wild Youth already sounds like something different for Angello, and the genre as a whole.

Wild Youth is not the only project coming from the now-disbanded Swedish House Mafia. Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell are already hard at work on “Departures,” their newest residency together in Ibiza that will kick off in June.

In the meantime, you’ll have to use your imagination as anticipation builds for Wild Youth. As he himself put it, “It’s a new Steve Angello, and I’m excited about it.”

But the latest from the ground in LA is the highly in-demand promoter’s new collaboration with hospitality firm SBE for the reopening of the Create in Hollywood, formerly known as Vanguard. SBE purchased the room back in February (and threw a party where Avicii DJed), but not until now had there been firmer plans relating to the future of the venue.

Create will open on May 11 with a night headlined by Dash Berlin. There isn’t any specific information about what else is to come, but both Insomniac and SBE have indicated a full list of future dates and “genre specific” nights are to come. SBE also owns Greystone Manor and Agency and Insomniac owns Exchange in downtown LA, but this new collaboration with certainly be a strong partnership for both.

According to Page Six, the “Get Lucky”collaborator made mention of hitting the road with Daft Punk “next year.” These statements, however, were quickly refuted by Daft Punk’s team in an official statement to Huffington Post citing that “no tour is planned.”

It is still plausible that Pharrell accidentally leaked information regarding the duo’s upcoming tour. We’re still confident that Daft Punk will be taking the stage sooner rather than later, especially with Random Access Memories slated for a May release.

With a new clip of a track he has been working on with Kat Von D called “Satellite.” This is not the first time his fiancée has appeared on his SoundCloud page — he posted a track she made for him with friend Danny Lohner back in February where she sang vocals over a rendition of “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” and Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game.” This is only the intro and first verse of ”Satellite,” but its classical orchestral sound sweeps up and down into a glitchy break with flavors of hip hop. It’s understated and smooth — can’t wait to hear the finished product.

Aligned with Defected Records off the back of consecutive compilation duties for Raveline and Deeperfect earlier this year, the long serving producer drops a taste of things to come with “You Don’t Know Me.” Flowing grooves and sparing instrumental leads are the weapon of choice, employing the hypnotic wordplay of Ursula Rucker to forge a mesmerising high-point of versatile club fuel away from the deep house paradigm. Accompanied by a more ominous remodel courtesy of Santè, Defected Records adds to a considerably abundant playbook enroute to the summer clubbing season.

Au5, one half of the production team that took the top prize for Seven Lions’ “Days to Come” contest, is swiftly showing his selection was no fluke. The New Jersey producer has teamed up with his close pal Fractal to deliver an original melodic drumstep leviathan on Monstercat.

“Halcyon” is a dynamic production on which its producers’ intricate attention to sound design detail has paid dividends. Glitched vocals flit above a deep atmospheric soundscape dotted with mystic softsynths and crisp drums before building to a hard-hitting but classily executed drop. The diversity of sound waves and synth tones employed speak to the advanced production acumen of its young creators. Keep your eyes on these kids.

Though only seven songs have been released since “WTF!?” launched the label, Romero has stacked his deck with such releases as “Like Home,” “Pandor” and “Iron.” John Dahlback is the latest to join the Protocol family, making his force heard with “Nuke.” A pounding progressive house tune with a drop that goes subatomic, “Nuke” keeps a touch of electro and a melodic quality that shows Dahlback at his nuanced best – setting off Geiger counters and car alarms the world over.

Enter British intergalactic export Tom Staar who injects the mix with a hearty dose of electro grit and gut wrenching percussion. Staar does well to maintain the original’s crisp melodic signature while creating a re-imagined version of “Mpire” that is distinctly his own, intertwining Moguai’s progressive touches with a flurry of greyscale synthwork.
