I haven’t had the pleasure of attending any of the HARD Festival sets in Los Angeles, but from what I’ve seen via video makes me envious of the attendees.
What does the aforesaid statement have to do with the Electric Zoo DJ featured? Destructo founded the HARD Festival in 2007 and it has kept its bass thumping momentum ever since. Gary Richards is Destructo, a LA-based DJ/producer who has wooed crowds at sets alongside Fatboy Slim and Rusko just to name a couple. He got his start in the early ‘90s in L.A.’s underground EDM scene. Below is the track that served as an inspirational catalyst to Destructo’s career as a DJ.
British electro trio, 808 State created the video for “Cubik” in 1990.
Flash forward to 2012 and Destructo has released the track, “Technology,” that was released on Boys Noize’s label, BNR TRAX. The track is a figurative synonym to techno and I just can’t stop raving to its sounds…even if it’s in my apartment. Take a listen and a look at the unexpectedly kitschy video for “Technology” below.
Next Sunday, he takes the EZoo Sunday School Grove stage at 11:45 AM. We at EDM Magazine are truly looking forward to his set and checking out what Destructo himself describes as ‘metal-techno-disco.’ Tomorrow we will profile someone who also got his start in the early ‘90s, but dabbled in German hip-hop before discovering his calling in the world of house and techno.
